A Voice for Every Fox

Foxes are often misunderstood.

For many, the word fox immediately brings to mind the familiar red fox. But foxes are so much more than one species. Across the world, there are many different species of fox, each with their own appearance, behaviours, habitats and stories.

Our mission is simple: to help everyone understand them.

This website was created from a deep passion for foxes and a desire to make learning about them simple, accessible and enjoyable. This is a non-academic project and is not designed to be complex. Whether you already love foxes or are simply curious about them, we want this to be a place where you can discover something new.

Every species deserves a voice

One of the most important principles behind this website is that every fox matters.

The red fox may be the most familiar species, but it should not overshadow the many other fascinating foxes around the world. From the tiny fennec fox to the unusual bat-eared fox, every species has its own place in the natural world.

That’s why our fox species are presented alphabetically, rather than giving preference to the most well-known species.

No fox is more important simply because more people know its name.

Understanding removes stigma

Foxes have often been surrounded by myths, fear and negative stereotypes. They can be described as pests, dangerous or troublesome without people really understanding their behaviour.

We want to change that.

By providing clear and easy to understand information, we hope to replace assumptions with knowledge and encourage people to see foxes for what they really are: wild animals with complex lives, fascinating behaviours and an important place in their ecosystems.

We don’t expect everyone to love foxes.

But we believe everyone should have the opportunity to understand them.

Making learning simple

You shouldn’t need to be a wildlife expert to learn about foxes.

Our aim is to explain information in a way that is:

  • Simple — no unnecessary scientific jargon.
  • Accessible — information that anyone can understand.
  • Interesting — because learning about wildlife should be enjoyable.
  • Balanced — respecting foxes as wild animals while recognising that they can sometimes live alongside people.
  • Inclusive — giving every fox species a place and a voice.

Why we do it

At its heart, this website exists because we believe that knowledge can change the way we see wildlife.

The more we understand foxes, the easier it becomes to look beyond the myths and stereotypes surrounding them.

Every species has a story.

We’re here to tell them.
